Maternity Session at Los Peñasquitos Ranch House | San Diego Maternity Photographer

There is something incredibly special about photographing a family as they grow. I first met this sweet family when their baby girl was just a tiny newborn. Being invited back to document this new chapter as they prepare to welcome their second baby is such an honor. As a San Diego Maternity Photographer, moments like these are the heart of why I do what I do.

Watching their little girl step into her new role as big sister was so beautiful. She brought so much personality and joy to this session, and you could already see the love this growing family shares. It’s such a gift to be their San Diego Family Photographer and continue telling their story year after year.

We chose the beautiful Los Peñasquitos Ranch House for their maternity session, which is one of my favorite locations in San Diego. After all the recent rain we’ve had, the grounds were especially stunning — full of lush greenery, vibrant grass, and that fresh, earthy glow that only comes after a good California rain.

This location offers the perfect mix of rustic charm and open space. The historic ranch house, wooden fences, and wide fields create a timeless backdrop that feels natural and organic — exactly the style I love to capture as a San Diego photographer. The soft golden hour light paired with all the fresh greenery made this session feel dreamy and intimate.

Documenting the In-Between Moments

One of my favorite parts of maternity sessions is capturing the quiet, in-between moments — the way dad gently holds mom’s hand, the proud smile of a soon-to-be big sister, and the tender glances exchanged when they talk about meeting their new baby.

There’s something so meaningful about documenting this season before everything changes again. The anticipation, the excitement, the love that already surrounds this little life — it deserves to be remembered.
